Why clothing sizes differ between countries
There's no single global standard for clothing sizes. US and UK women's sizes run on different numbers (a US 8 is a UK 12), while most of Europe uses the body measurement in centimetres as the size itself. Italy and France add their own scales again. Shoes are the messiest of all, because every maker builds on a slightly different last, which is why the same EU number can fit differently from one brand to the next.

How do I convert my US size to UK or EU?

Why is my EU shoe size different across brands?
Shoe lasts (the moulds shoes are built on) differ by maker, so EU 41 in one brand can fit like 40 or 42 in another. Use the conversion as a guide, then go by the brand's fit notes.
